At Bozart Family Dentistry our philosophy is to provide comprehensive dentistry to all patients. This means explaining all available options to every individual and having the patient make an educated decision with regards to their treatment. Dr. Bozart understands that what the textbook recommends is not appropriate for every patient. He states:
the textbook does not take into account the patients situation. The textbook fails to recognize financial or time constraints, personal desires, fear, etc.”
Dr. Bozart tries to develop an understanding of the patients desires, situation, and personality to help establish an individually appropriate treatment plan. He believes every patient should have a well established relationship with their healthcare provider. This lends itself to better understanding, trust, and personalized treatment.
Dr. Albert Bozart
Dr. Albert Bozart was born and raised in North Carolina. He received both his Bachelor of Arts and Doctorate of Dental Surgery from the UNC at Chapel Hill. The education he received provided a solid background for his professional career. After graduating from dental school, Dr. Bozart participated and graduated from an Advanced Education in General Dentistry (AEGD) residency. This residency provided the opportunity to explore more complex and diverse patient cases. Dr. Bozart learned numerous skills and treatments under the direct supervision of over 20 board certified specialist. He states, “While UNC provided a solid academic foundation, the AEGD residency gave the clinical skill and confidence through treating difficult cases in all areas of dentistry”.
After graduation, Dr. Bozart fulfilled a military obligation. He attended UNC Dental School on a full military scholarship. He agreed to become a US Army Dentist after graduation in return for the military paying for his education. He states, “this turned out to be one of the best decisions of my life”. While on active duty, Captain Bozart treated numerous soldiers at Fort Gordon and Fort Benning, Ga. After leaving active duty, Dr. Bozart entered private practice as an associate in Wilmington, NC. He chose to move to Wilmington because he has extensive family in the area and his children love the beach. The private practice experience was very rewarding for Dr. Bozart. He learned the complexities of dealing with the business side of dentistry. He states. “this is the aspect of dentistry I dislike the most. I wish the business side of dentistry did not exist, like in the Army, but it is a necessary evil and I did learn valuable information during this time.” As you can see, Dr. Bozart has a very diverse and enriched professional and educational experiences.
Dr. Bozart has two girls, Alison and Sydney. They both are fun loving, caring, and sweet girls. On weekends the girls can be found playing TopSoccer, Special Olympics bowling or just hanging at the beach. They both have a rare condition called Mucolipidosis Type IV (ML4) and need constant help. Dr. Bozart finds tremendous strength in Alison and Sydney. He states. “all of the education in the world does not provide the gift that both girls have provided. They have provided me with a purpose that no job title ever could”, Dr. Bozart feels spiritually blessed to have been given the two girls and advocates for them and others like them.
Dr. Lauren Francis
Dr. Lauren Francis is from Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and has been in Wilmington since 2008. Dr.Francis attended Temple University School of Dentistry in Philadelphia, PA, where she received her Doctor of Dental Medicine Degree. Prior to that she attended Washington and Lee University in Lexington, Virginia, where she received a Bachelor of Science in Biology Degree.
After graduating from dental school, she completed a one year hospital based dental residency at Albert Einstein Medical Center in Philadelphia. The residency provided advanced training in dentistry including hospital based dentistry, oral surgery and implant training. She is a member of the American Dental Association and the North Carolina Dental Society. She started with Bozart Family Dentistry in January 2010. Dr. Francis enjoys practicing all aspects of general dentistry and is an Invisalign certified provider. In October 2015, Dr. Francis completed a 7 month mini residency in dental implants with the Triangle Dental Institute in Durham, NC. She lives in Wilmington with her husband Dan, two daughters and their dog Sadie.
Dr. Steve Regnier
Dr. Regnier, who prefers to be called Steve, is originally from Long Island, NY. He completed his undergraduate degree in Biology at Albright College in Reading , PA. After that, he went directly on to dental school attending Fairleigh Dickinson School of Dentistry in New Jersey. He graduated in 1989, finishing second in his class, and was the only one in his class to receive a Masters of Science degree in Human Physiology simultaneously with his Doctorate of Dental Medicine ( DMD) degree. He then completed a one year dental residency at Genesee Hospital in Rochester, NY. Following the residency, he went into private practice in Trumansburg , NY, and after 25 successful years in one location, it is time for the next stage in life with Bozart Family Dentistry in the beautiful state of North Carolina.
He and his wife will be residing in Wilmington, while his 3 children are finishing college. He is a half marathon runner, golfer and loves the beach. He is very excited to join this already wonderful practice and looks forward to the opportunity to help you in the near future.
Dr. Traci Espinosa
Dr. Espinosa was born and raised in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where she received her Bachelors in Biology from The University of New Mexico in 2000. She then moved to Boston where she attended dental school Tufts University. Immediately after dental school, Dr. Espinosa moved back to Albuquerque where she joined a practice as an associate and learned the business for two years before starting her own practice, which she owned and ran for four years before selling it. After selling her practice she moved to North Carolina to work in children’s dentistry (ages 2-20) while awaiting her commission in the USPHS (United Sates Public Health Service). Her commission within the USPHS then led her to serve within the US Coast Guard for the next four years in the Washington, DC and Annapolis, MD areas.
Once fulfilling her commission with the USPHS/ USCG, she then moved to our beautiful area that she feels lucky to be able to now call home. Dr. Espinosa is happily married to her husband Ray and has two children, Toby and Haley. Toby is an up and coming football star and Haley has a special talent for dance. In her spare time, you’ll find the Espinosa’s enjoying the beach and boating lifestyle that our area is known for, or possibly having dinner at their favorite Wilmington area restaurant, Bluewater Grill. Although Bluewater may be her favorite restaurant for atmosphere, her favorite foods are actually sushi and Indian food, or anything else spicy. Dr. Espinosa is also Invisalign certified. So if you’re coming in for an Invisalign treatment be sure to ask her about some of her favorite sports teams, the Kentucky Wildcats (basketball), Notre Dame (football) or her favorite baseball team, the Boston Red Sox.
Dr. Melissa Owen
Dr. Owen was born and raised in Virginia Beach, VA, before moving to Northern VA where she attended James Madison University for undergrad, and then went on to Chapel Hill to attend UNC for dental school. While at at UNC, Dr. Owen enjoyed spending her spare time volunteering for various MOM clinics and was a coordinator for the Samaritan Health clinic in Durham. After receiving her DDS, Dr. Owen moved out to Los Angeles, CA, to where she completed her Genearal Practice Residency at the Sepulveda VA. With both of her parents also in dentistry, her father being a dentist and mother being the office manager, Dr. Owen was apparently destined to be a dentist at the beach as well. Not only are her parents in the field, but both of her siblings are also currently attending dental school. Needless to say, dentistry is not just a profession for Dr. Owen, but it truly runs in her blood.
In her spare time, Dr. Owen enjoys getting out to the beach, traveling, cooking, and going to various concerts with her husband of 3 years and high school sweetheart, James “Conally” Owen. On the weekends you may spot Dr. Owen and her husband at their favorite local restaurant Indochine. Although with growing up at the beach, seafood is still her favorite thing to eat. Being a Tar Heel alum, Dr. Owen bleeds Carolina Blue. So if you’re looking to talk a little college basketball while in the chair, just try to avoid the “D” word if possible.
Dr. Quigley was born in Las Vegas, NV, but raised in Richland, WA. He then moved to Provo, UT, where he received his undergrad from Brigham Young University, before attending dental school at The University of Washington. Immediately after graduating dental school he began working for the US Navy at Camp Lejeune before joining the Bozart Family Dentistry team.
Dr. Quigley has been married for 10 years and currently has two boys, with a little girl on the way. They also have a unique family pet, a Leopard Gecko that one of his sons takes care of. In his spare time, Dr. Quigley enjoys playing golf, doing Crossfit, working in his yard or cooking up a delicious meal for his family. However, golf is a special passion of his as he’s played competitively for years, even winning a few amateur tournaments and very impressively a high school state championship as well. On the weekends, you may find him refueling after 18 holes at his favorite local restaurant, “Jebby’s on 17th.” Looking for some sports conversation while in the chair? Appropriately enough, his favorite team is the BYU Cougars, but he’s also an avid UNC basketball fan.
Dr. Jeff Margulis
Dr. Margulis was born and raised in Long Island, NY, before moving to Albany, NY, to attend SUNY for his undergrad. For dental school, Dr. Margulis continued his education within his home state of New York attending The Stony Brook School of Dental Medicine. After graduating dental school, Dr. Margulis worked for an extremely busy private practice in NY gaining a vast amount of general dentistry experience before moving to sunny Ponte Verde, FL, to work at a cosmetic dentistry practice for 3 years. With having such a diverse background of dental experience, Dr. Margulis can handle everything from general dentistry procedures, to cosmetic, and is even Invisalign certified as well.
During his spare time, Dr. Margulis enjoys spending time with his wife of 13 years JoAnn, and his 2 children Joshua (9) and Isabella (10). With being an avid boater, Dr. Margulis loves getting out and exploring our beautiful waterways with his family on the weekends during the summer, snowboarding in the winter, and softball in the spring. If you’re out and about around Hampstead, you may catch him watching his favorite team the Mets at one of his favorite places, “Jebby’s on 17th.” But steer clear of any Mets conversation while in the chair. After years of losing records, it’s a bit of a sore subject.
Dr. Benjamin Friberg
Dr. Friberg was born and raised in Portland, OR. Other than living in Buffalo, NY for dental school, Wilmington is the only other city he has lived in. After completing his undergrad at Oregon State University in 2005 with a Business management degree and minor in Construction Engineering, he went to Dental school at State University of New York at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. He moved to Wilmington in 2016 and began working with us in January 2018. Dr. Friberg’s focus is “providing comprehensive dentistry that considers the whole mouth, not just one tooth at a time”.
Dr. Friberg has been married to his college sweetheart for 13 years. They have two children and a dog named Boone. His family spends their free time going on weekend adventures and exploring new places on road trips. His hobbies include brewing beer and sailboat racing. He has over 10 years of home brewing experience and is on the crew of a 28 foot sailboat in Southport.
Dr. Holmes was born and raised in northeastern Ohio but her mother originally migrated from abroad so she has dual citizenship in Ireland. She has lived in many places including Singapore, Texas, and Chicago. She has been living in Wilmington for the last 12 years and claims it to be her favorite city yet. Dr. Holmes completed her Bachelors in Microbiology at Ohio State then graduated Dental School from the University of Texas where she was president of her dental school class. She has had many experiences in the dentistry field including working in a very high end cosmetic practice Chicago, to practicing in a public health clinic serving a rural community. She is passionate about “helping people feel proud of their smile” and especially enjoys working with patients in need of dentures.
Dr. Holmes has been married to her husband for almost 30 years. They have two children, two dogs, two cats, and one gecko named Tooothless. She is a certified Disney fanatic so the family loves taking trips to Florida and seeing the magic of Disney. Her hobbies also include gardening and supporting local theater and the arts. You can find her enjoying live shows on the weekends or helping out behind the scenes.
